Overview
Our client require a specialized architect to support a complex build-out of NES (Network Edge Services) applications and Operational Technology (OT) network infrastructure, with an emphasis on secure and optimized Linux-based environments. This role demands advanced expertise in Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Linux infrastructure, as well as the ability to design and architect environments that integrate effectively with the factory’s Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) systems.
Responsibilities
- OT Network Infrastructure Development: Architect and implement the OT network, including integration of new IIOT infrastructure to support factory operations. This is separate from traditional IT networks and will involve specific OT principles and security considerations.
- System Architecture & Design: Design architecture for Linux, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments, developing frameworks, guardrails, and integration principles that ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Testing and Production Environments: Architect and oversee deployments in both test and production environments, with a view towards scalability, security, and alignment with the wider factory infrastructure.
- Collaboration & Integration: Work closely with both local and remote teams (including US-based Linux teams) to bridge gaps in expertise, particularly around OpenShift and Kubernetes management within OT environments.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain necessary security protocols in compliance with the Swedish Secrecy Act, ensuring secure OT network operations.
- Operational Support Transition: Develop operational documentation, standards, and training to transition ownership to local teams post-deployment.
Required Skills and Experience
- Subject Matter Expertise: In-depth expertise in Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Linux infrastructure with the ability to build, manage, and troubleshoot in complex OT network environments.
- Architecture & Design Experience: Proven ability to design secure, scalable infrastructure with a comprehensive understanding of OT principles, security guardrails, and integration needs for IIOT environments.
- Hands-On Build Experience: Ability to perform hands-on build tasks while maintaining an architect’s perspective on how this technology integrates with and supports larger factory operations.
- Collaborative and Adaptive Approach: Comfortable working with global teams, particularly remote Linux teams in the US, and able to provide guidance on OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Compliance Awareness: Experience with high-security environments and familiarity with legal or compliance considerations in an industrial context.
