Coherent Mölndal develops, manufactures and sells optical components and fiber cables for high-power lasers. Coherent Mölndal is a market-leading supplier of components for high-power lasers. Our customers are primarily laser manufacturers in Europe, USA and Japan. Today we employ around 50 people in Mölndal.
The market for high-power lasers is growing and demands for performance and technical solutions are increasing. Our ambition is to continue to grow by offering world-class performance and quality.
For our operations in Mölndal, we are now looking for students who are interested in working in either the Research & Development or in the Manufacturing Engineering department this summer.
Manufacturing Engineering
The Manufacturing Engineering (ManEng) department is responsible for manufacturing processes, production equipment, and technical aids used for manufacturing and quality assurance of the company's products. As our products are constantly being renewed, we are constantly working to design and develop new equipment and tools for our production lines. Increased demands on quality are placing increasing demands on instructions, routines and data collection, which we are constantly improving.
The production lines contain equipment that is specially designed in-house, including mechanics, optics/vision systems and electronics/control. The ManEng department is responsible for their operation, maintenance and development. The assignment includes communicating technical solutions and problems between manufacturing units and the R&D department.
We believe that you have a great technical interest and that you have progressed somewhat in your technical education. You will gain good insight into the daily work of a ManEng department, while at the same time being given your own tasks and assignments based on your interests.
Possible Assignments
- Visualization of production status
- Programming in LabVIEW
- Process optimizations
- Measurement system analysis and value flow analysis/time studies
- Develop control plans
- Update manufacturing instructions
- Statistical process control (SPC)
- Testing and evaluation of new processes and production equipment
