Job Overview:
The Senior Electrical Field Engineer with Five-twelve (5-12) years of experience of detailed Electrical Engineering and Construction Site experience who applies in-depth knowledge, experience, and best practices in electrical engineering. Responsible for coordination between Engineering and Design team in Home office and Construction team at site, responding to site queries and solving complex electrical problems and work independently with minimal guidance.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates between Engineering and Design team in Home offices and Construction team at site
- Handles Site queries in efficient and timely manner
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed response to Site queries and communicate with engineering / design team for required information.
- Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
- Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area.
- Clearly communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understanding.
- Apply thorough working knowledge to understand project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Specifications and Datasheets.
- Electrical Load List.
- One-line diagrams.
- Motor control schematics.
- Electrical building and equipment layouts.
- Bills of Material.
- Cable sizing calculations.
- Conceptual studies and calculations.
- Relay Coordination.
- Cost and planning studies.
- Be involved in Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end product throughout engineering, fabrication, or construction.
- Function as coordinator between Site team and other internal and external parties .
- Become familiar with the project scope of work, basis of design, specifications, and schedule.
- Report to and coordinate with the Electrical Engineering Lead, Field Engineering Manager, and Construction team and Manager.
- Coordinate with Electrical Engineers and Designers in Offices.
- Maintain close coordination with other discipline Field engineers and with the Client’s Engineer.
- Carefully evaluate, communicate, and manage change with full awareness of project impact.
- Assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control.
- Lead / support Site Support, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Lead off-site and/or on-site technical support to Construction personnel.
- Manage all site issues and coordinate with office personnel to resolve issues as needed.
- Provide detailed technical support and supervision for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of electrical equipment.
- Provide detailed technical assistance for pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up, as required by the project.
Reports to: Project: Field Engineer Manager / Construction Manager
Functional: Supervising Field Engineering or Engineering Manager
Liaise with: Home office Electrical Engineering team, All Field Engineering team , Construction team , Document Control, Procurement Group, Subcontractors and Vendors, and Customers
Supervises: Field Electrical Engineers (If applicable)
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or another Technical Degree.
- Prefer PE certificate of registration.
- Accredited Engineering Degree may be required by specific regions.
- Five-twelve (5-12) years of experience of detailed Electrical Engineering and Construction Site experience .
- Strong working knowledge of many design techniques, and analysis methods, and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines, including IEC, NEC, ATEX, IEEE, and ANSI, and the latest scientific and engineering methods.
- Technical knowledge of the detailed design engineering process.
- Project coordination and execution skills.
- Intermediate experience with Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL) and MS Office Suite including Excel and Word.
- Must hold current authorization to work in Sweden.
