About the Role
We are looking for a curious, hands-on, and technically strong Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) Engineer to join our growing consultancy. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of field instrumentation, data analytics, and structural engineering to support real-world assessments of bridges, industrial facilities, ports, and other critical structures. You’ll be instrumental in designing and installing SHM systems, processing sensor data, and connecting those insights to structural behaviour and finite element models.
This position combines fieldwork in challenging environments with analytical work in Python and structural dynamics. If you’re driven by real-world impact, not just simulations, and excited to contribute to meaningful assessments of aging infrastructure — we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
Engineering & Project Support
- Develop and implement SHM and instrumentation plans tailored to each project
- Design sensor layouts and support installation plans for bridges, quays, buildings, and more
- Work closely with our engineers, clients, and contractors throughout the lifecycle of monitoring projects
- Collect, clean, and analyse sensor data (strain, acceleration, displacement, etc.)
- Support modal analysis and structural identification using FE tools and test data
- Contribute to reporting, visualization, and interpretation of findings for clients
Fieldwork & Installation
- Lead or assist sensor installations on-site, often at heights or in industrial environments
- Ensure robust data collection setups in harsh weather and challenging conditions
- Perform basic troubleshooting and system maintenance
- Conduct inspections and verify sensor performance during live testing or monitoring phases
Collaboration & Innovation
- Communicate technical insights effectively to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Work closely with internal teams across structural design, NDT, and repair strategies
- Contribute to the improvement of our monitoring workflows and toolkits, including automations and dashboards
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in SHM, instrumentation, or structural assessment
- Practical experience with sensor systems (e.g., strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement sensors)
- Comfortable working at heights, on scaffolding, or in rough environments
- Basic to intermediate programming skills (Python or MATLAB) for data processing and analysis (nice to have, but not required or expected at a high level)
- Strong understanding of structural behaviour and basic modal analysis principles
- Fluent in written and spoken Swedish (not a requirement but a big plus)
About us
At Invator Sverige AB, we specialize in inspections and condition assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure. Our work spans feasibility studies, structural investigations, field surveys, and advanced load-bearing capacity analyses. We help clients ensure the safety and longevity of their structures through monitoring, non-destructive testing, strengthening solutions, and detailed structural evaluations. Additionally, we engage in research and development and provide specialized training programs.
With offices in Stockholm (Täby) and Gothenburg, we are currently looking to expand our Stockholm team. Our clients include private companies, government agencies, municipalities, and major engineering consultants, as well as industrial clients. Some of our projects also take us across the border to Norway.
We are now looking for a skilled structural engineer to join our team. Experienced professionals are our primary focus, but we also welcome motivated recent graduates with a strong technical foundation.
